Who we are and why you should care

We want to start our story by telling you where we are today: We are ConnectAd and we are on a mission to support you – whether you are a media company, an agency or an advertiser – to unleash your full economic potential.

But let’s go back to the beginning!

It all started with programmatic popping up

Before ConnectAd was founded all of our co-founders have been high-flying entrepreneurs with several years of experience in online sales, online marketing, performance marketing and publisher sales. When they got in contact with programmatic advertising for the very first time they were successfully managing different online marketing sales houses all over Europe. Achieving these positions was hard work and staying in them would have been comfortable.

When the real deal is calling you

Nevertheless, while dealing with topics like real time bidding and header bidding in its earliest stages they realized in the blink of an eye that these new opportunities will sooner or later become the new market standard. More than that: They just knew that programmatic advertising is going to be the future of online advertising for sure.  

So the decision to start a company operating in exactly this fascinating new field was an easy one. It felt almost natural and like it was the only right thing to do.After our co-founders successfully managed to pass their online marketing sales houses on to international media companies an exciting time was about to start.

Aiming for cutting-edge technology

The vision for ConnectAd was crystal clear from the very beginning. First and foremost, we were driven by the idea to build something great. Something that brings value to publishers as well as advertising partners. We didn’t want to establish just another more or less trustworthy yielding company using someone’s technology and making money out of that. We aimed for more.

We were keen to build our own proprietary technology. And therefore the goal was to develop the perfect Supply Side Platform. We quickly agreed on the most important features of the product: It must be easy to use and 100 % transparent – both attributes that were missing in nearly every other technology we have used ourselves. 

Through a lot of work and dedication, we managed to bring our idea to life in a very short amount of time. We were really proud, ready to change the industry for the better and thought our perfect technology would hit the market like a bomb.

Being the new kid on the block is tough

But we had to learn the hard way that once you've already been at the top, it's even harder to start at the bottom again. Although we had built the perfect Supply Side Platform we still had to compete against lots of established and well-known brands that mostly relied on their good name. Looking back we can tell you: It wasn’t easy at all. Being the new kid on the block, starting from scratch and all of that takes perseverance, passion and a lot of trust. You need confidence in yourself and the unshakeable belief in the idea you’re burning for. You need the right people or – as we like to call it – a badass team. And you can only get through this if you develop a challenger mindset and stick with it.

To do so we reminded ourselves why we wanted to build the perfect Supply Side Platform in the first place and why ours is different than that of many other providers out there. The answer to both of these questions is the same: Because we have a mission and this mission is to stand up for our customers. But to do so technology alone won’t do the job – even if it is the best technology in the world.

Service became our passion and key to success

We quickly realized that human interaction is key, even though programmatic advertising is a technical and machine-based environment. We understood that we have to talk to our customers. We have to support them. We have to teach them. We have to be there. And last but not least: We must carefully listen to them because only with constant feedback from our customers we are able to continuously develop us and our product further.

We learned a valuable lesson during that time: When you work in a very complex and difficult to grasp industry it doesn’t matter how brilliant you product is, if you don’t provide a great customer support your idea is dead.
